Hello! If you are reading this, we want to thank you for your attention and commitment to building a more equitable and transparent working environment in Boston dance. This first working draft of the Boston Dance Code of Ethics was originally modeled off of the B Corp areas of attention. For example, this could (but not necessarily) function similarly to B Corp, Wage for Work, or LEEDS Certification – where each organization could post their score and we could have each organization’s answers on a central website.

Of course, there are many layers of work within dance – we recognize that dancers, choreographers, producers, tech workers, teachers, and funders will all have different needs. Our hope is that the final document of the Code will contain these fractals, and will meet each layer where they are to guide us all toward more equitable work practices from our station.

We are not opening this document for comments at this time in the interest of respecting the inequity of time availability. Please, collect your thoughts and bring them all to the meeting on May 1 from 12-2 at the Cultural Equity Incubator, 15 Channel Central Street in Boston, MA.
